Identify Me Please

This is growing in my garden. These stalks are now about 2-3 feet high. I'm fascinated by them, but have NO IDEA what they are. Anyone have any ideas? There is no sign of buds or pending blooms, they are still just growing tall?

(Found a second photo that I took recently...ideas?

It might be phlox.

Not sure what the first picture is, but the second one looks like Asian Lilies. I have some in my wee garden. They are a lot like day lilies.

Welcome to the DC Suburbs, where bamboo grows . . . at least that's what it looks like to me.

Thanks for the feedback.

PS: Both photos are the same plant.
