Next week is Restaurant Week!
More information here:

I won't be able to take advantage of the lunch options this time, so I have to select a place to try out for dinner one evening.

Is it all week? I just tried to do an Open Table reservation for next Friday night at a restaurant and it read "This reservation does not qualify for DC Restaurant Week menu." Now I have to call back and cancel. What is the point of this then....?

There were some issues with Open Table and Restaurant Week last time around (spring), I read about them during the ASK TOM chats. Many people mentioned it's best to just call and try the restaurant directly.

Where you going to try?

Ah yes, just called - Capitol Grille - and the lady with the snooty accent said "we only do lunch during R. Week" and I said, "well, just so you know, Open Table has you down for both lunch and dinner, so you may get a few more calls from people thinking that they can do dinner" and the lady seemed pretty ungrateful for the heads up. Poo on her. So, I cancelled the reservation.

haha... i love the image credit now! i wasn't trying to be a buzz kill, though! i'm not going to tell anyone!

i seem to recall the WaPo doing a story some time back on how restaurants answer their phones and take reservations. people need to realize that even the way someone answers the phone to take a reservation reflects on entire dining experience.

No buzz kill! It's fun...and making me think about labelling my own photos, so that it's clear which ones are mine...but we really can tell...white plates with blue trim!

As for the restaurants...WWTD...what would Tom do? He'd ask for the manager and deal with the situation right there. That beyotch should be put in her place for being so pissy. The deal with restaurant week, it gives people the chance to try a restaurant that they may not normally go to...impress them and they will come back...mess it up and we're done! I should try calling and say, oh wait...you all gave someone attitude, i don't want to eat there any more.
